Partnership with Schools of Specialisation in Soweto
Introducing makerism: Curtis Nkondo and Pace has been part of the STET coding and robotics program since 2017. Given this opportunity to ideate and design products, they have been extending their understanding of design thinking, computational thinking skills and creativity. This in turn helped improve the learners’ performances in all subjects. The activity of makerism also exposes the learners to prevailing technologies like 3D modelling and 3D printing, Laser cutting, Prototype development.
The learners then extended their skills to formulating a business plan which is part of academic offer in the curriculum. This enhances some of the academic skills.
Entrepreneurship: a field comprise the skills of the future. Entrepreneurship covered research skills, negotiation skills, marketing skills, presentation skills, product design skills, technology skills, collaboration skills. Most of these skills are not part of the core curriculum. The program therefore, addresses the gap that the curriculum has.
